SASKATCHEWAN ENTREPRENEUR NOMINEE PROGRAM

Entrepreneur Category:

  • Have a minimum of $500,000 (CAD) in Net Business and Personal Assets.
  • Have at least three years of relevant business management or entrepreneurial experience gained in the past ten years.
  • Plan to invest a minimum of $300,000 (CAD) in Regina and Saskatoon, or a minimum of $200,000 (CAD) in all other Saskatchewan communities.

Candidates are then selected based on their score. Selected candidates are invited to apply to the SINP.

If you are invited to apply you must submit a Business Establishment Plan (BEP). Your BEP must include:

  • Your plan to establish an eligible business that aligns with the points in the Entrepreneur Category Points Grid.
  • Your ownership of at least one-third (33 1/3 per cent) of the equity of a business in Saskatchewan, unless your total investment is $1 million CAD or higher.
  • Your commitment to the day-to-day management of the business.
  • The creation of two employment opportunities in Saskatchewan for Canadians or permanent residents who are not related to you*.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

  • Are at least 21 years of age.
  • Have completed a full-time post-secondary degree or diploma of at least two years from an eligible Saskatchewan institution.
  • Have a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit, with at least 24 months remaining.
  • Have lived in Saskatchewan during their academic program (no distance-learning programs or accelerated academic program are eligible).
  • Have a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7.

Those who meet eligibility criteria and are invited to apply and must be able to show knowledge of their Business Establishment Plan (BEP).

Those chosen from the EOI pool, invited to apply and approved by the SINP must:

  1. Reside in Saskatchewan.
  2. Actively own and operate a business in Saskatchewan for at least one year prior to applying.
  3. Own at least one-third (33%) of the business and take part in the day-to-day management. Ownership must be the result of a verifiable investment made directly by the applicant, either from their own equity or from an eligible source.
  4. Demonstrate that the business is generating the minimum required revenue amount after one year of operation.
  5. Sign a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) with the Government of Saskatchewan. This will be given to you by the SINP after your application is approved.

Farm Owner and Operator Category

Farm Owners and Operators

  • Have a personal net worth of at least $500,000 (CAD).
  • Have accumulated your net worth legally.
  • Have at least three years experience in:
    • Farm ownership.
    • Farm management.
    • Practical farming experience.
  • Give a proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity with plans to invest a minimum of $150,000 (CAD). Your proposal should be based on research, consultations or formal coursework relevant to Saskatchewan agricultural conditions. Hobby farms do not qualify. The proposal should be a commercial project with an expectation of profit. In Saskatchewan, a qualified farming business must have a minimum of $10,000 CAD in annual revenue.
  • Score at least 55 points on the Farm Owner/Operator Category Intent Grid. (see Application Guide for information on the Intent Grading Grid)

Farm Owners and Operators – Young Farmer Stream

The Young Farmer stream was created to allow young farm families to establish their lives and farming operations in rural areas of Saskatchewan.

  • Have a personal net worth of at least $300,000 (CAD).
  • Have accumulated your net worth legally.
  • Be under the age of 40 at the time of your application.
  • Have at least three years experience in:
    • Farm ownership.
    • Farm management.
    • Practical farming experience.
  • Give a proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity. Your proposal should be based on research, consultations or formal coursework relevant to Saskatchewan agricultural conditions. Hobby farms do not qualify. The proposal should be a commercial project with an expectation of profit. In Saskatchewan, a qualified farming business must have a minimum of $10,000 CAD annual revenue.
  • You or your spouse must have employment skills, based on education and experience, to supplement your farming income.

Before you submit your application:

  • Ensure you meet the criteria.
  • Access and prepare all forms and documents.
  • Comply with the steps involved in the application process, including:
    • Paying a $2,500 CAD processing fee.
    • Paying the $75,000 CAD deposit.
    • Fulfilling the requirements of the program.
  • Make an exploratory visit to Saskatchewan: You must stay in Saskatchewan for at least 10 days to conduct research through meetings with service professionals.
